For over 1700 years, the Buddha Statues of Bamiyan have stood silently over the Hazarajat Valley of Afghanistan (a known UNESCO World Heritage Site). Constructed in the early sixth century in an area that was considered a flourishing monastic center for Buddhists, the statues were considered the largest standing Buddhas in the world until their destruction in 2001 by the Taliban, an act which was seen as one of the most devastating forms of cultural terrorism in the 21st century.

Using Unity, Sculptris and Cinema4D, this project aimed to recreate a surreal version of the Bamiyan Buddhas in a VR setting.
